The DigiComm team is very excited to release most of the functionality required of the News/Blog feature in the Core template! Users will soon be able to publish news- or blog-type content directly onto their websites with functionality for varied post templates, categories, tags, authors and feeds.
Setting up a news or blog section on your website will follow a similar process to creating a new website. Units should fill out the Division of Strategic Communications, Government and External Affairs project form. There’ll be a setup fee required to create a new news or blog section, but with it will come all the setup, a consultation and creation of the first post. More on this new feature soon!
Otherwise, we’ve also released some code optimizations for the section subnavigation that should speed up Cascade-side rendering and added a new banner font, Barlow, that will soon replace Komet SC.
New Features
- 🚨 Blog/News module is now fully functional with varying post templates and functionality for categories, tags, authors and feeds. If you are interested in publishing news stories on your website, starting a blog or even making a list of past news clips and videos, fill out the Strategic Communications project form and select “Website – News or Blog Section” as your option!
Improvements
- ⚡️ Optimized subnavigation template to save, in some cases, more than 10 seconds of rendering time in Cascade
- Barlow is now available as a new banner/heading font. This font will soon replace instances of Komet SC and Montserrat seen in the template
