Our latest Core release is bringing a cool, new addition to the blog module: author photos! The author photo field will let you add a photo next to the author bio at the bottom of every post. Accompanying the new photo field is a host of improvements, speed enhancements and bug fixes, big and small.
As a final note, we would like to highlight that this is the first Core release with contributions from our student web producer, Anelys! The next time you notice the conspicuous absence of cyan from the background color dropdown, you can all thank her! 😄️
Improvements
- Added an author photo field to the blog module
- Improved the loading speed of pages in Cascade by switching the default system region to the current page block. This change does not currently apply to pages with searchable interfaces, but a similar improvement will be gradually applied to them in future updates.
- Updated the Profiles List module so hyperlinked emails open in a new tab when your browser is set as your default mail client
- Modified the style targeting of the play and pause buttons in the video banner, which should make using other buttons in the banner work as intended
- Added helper text for the auto-generated h1 page setting. We noticed some users are leaving the Display Title field blank when hiding the auto-generated h1. The helper text indicates the Display Text field should always be filled in on pages.
- Removed the cyan background color option for our modules
Bug Fixes
- Fixed blog issue where tags with spaces in them were generating broken links
- Smoothed out some issues with spacing around page titles
- Fixed an issue where some buttons in the pre-footer had the wrong text color in relation to the background color
- Removed the styles that were title-casing the text in buttons
- Fixed an issue where folder arrows were dropping to their own lines in the subnavigation
- Profile and blog year folders no longer generate broken links in the sitemap and breadcrumbs
