The Office of Digital Communications is looking for our next junior web content strategist. Our strategists play an integral role in shaping the university's web presence by developing and executing content strategies for a variety of websites while promoting best practices and supporting web content managers along the way.
In this new position, the junior web content strategist will:
- Gather, research and analyze data to develop and execute content strategies for new and existing websites.
- Keep projects on track and on budget.
- Maintain editorial standards, accuracy and quality of all content across varying web properties.
- Use experience and research to influence stakeholders to optimize digital content and assess, review and approve digital content for FIU websites.
- Measure content quality and set standards while promoting best practices
- Supporting web content managers as they navigate projects and working in the content management system.
While our minimum qualifications for this position are a bachelor's degree and one year of experience in a role that includes writing or copywriting, we're hoping our candidates will have:
- 3+ years in a role involved with updating website content with a preference for similar experience in higher education. This includes a solid understanding of UX and content design and experience with content management systems like Cascade or WordPress and image-editing tools like Photoshop.
- Knowledge of Basic HTML, image-editing skills and UX best practices.
- Ability to draft and edit successful content strategies.
- Understanding of the importance of accessibility and 508/ADA compliance.
Examples of our work
The Office of Digital Communications hosts more than 150 websites and microsites that use the Core template. In a typical year, we'll launch around 80 web projects—a combination of websites, microsites, marketing landing pages, and releases to our template system.
