Our team has been hard at work making some important infrastructure changes for our websites which are now (mostly) done. With this new Core release, DigiComm is back!
In this release, we have our usual host of bug fixes and accessibility improvements. In particular, Content Grids and Thumbnail Grids now have alt text fields, so be sure to add alt text to your images when you use these modules!
We’re also happy to announce FIU’s Central Reservations Office has a brand-new website that serves as the hub for reserving rooms, auditoriums and open spaces on campus. Users with a keen eye will notice that we’ve updated the university footer’s Reserve Space link. If you’re the editor for a non-Core website, we encourage you to update this link in your footer.
As always, please send reports of any issues you encounter to digimaint@fiu.edu. A few of the items in this release made it thanks to our work with teams across FIU!
Improvements
- Added an italic class
class="italic"
to base styles. This class makes text italic without adding semantic "emphasis." - Added alt text to our Content Grid and Thumbnail Grid.
- Updated the footer’s Reserve Space link to direct to the new Central Reservations website.
Bug Fixes
- Microsites should now display their own Page not Found pages (when errors occur, of course).
- Mega menu navigation no longer needs a sub-folder to work properly.
- Improved padding for mega menus to prevent overlapping text.
- Fixed an issue causing page banners with energy lines to conflict with the alert banner.
- Fixed an issue causing certain gallery items to create a gray border on their bottom edge.
- Fixed an issue causing thumbnail grids to display an incorrect number of items per row.
- Fixed an issue causing display text to not work properly in related boxes.
- Fixed an issue causing poor color contrast in card grids with blue backgrounds.
