Core v1.29 brought a fresh look to the Calendar module.

The Calendar module received a visual overhaul. The new design now places your unit’s next event in the featured position. Stay tuned for more updates to this module, including registration links separate from the event link and more.

Other updates include a new way to create external links in the navigation, SEO-related changes to per-page metadata and bugs fixes.

Improvements

  • New design for the Calendar module
  • Blog authors can link their bylines directly to a page or link
  • The search results page design has been refreshed. New websites will now have a search bar directly on the search results page. In the coming weeks, the search bar will be added to existing websites.
  • Meta titles have been updated to the following format {Page Title} | FIU {Site Name} to conform with the latest SEO best practices. This update also includes a feature to remove the auto-generated FIU from the title. Be on the lookout for a post further explaining these changes.
  • Meta descriptions were reduced to 150 characters to conform with SEO best practices. Read about best practices for writing meta descriptions.
  • Creating an external link in your site’s navigation has never been easier. We’ve added a new asset factory for manual navigation links along with updates to the page and folder creation shortcut text in the Add Content menu on all new sites. This feature will be rolled out to existing sites over the next few weeks.
  • Blog banners using the default position (not full width) will have a box shadow.
  • Added screen-reader-only text after the Share Post heading(s) in the blog posts.
  • Nondiscrimination and Title IX links in the FIU footer have been updated to point to the new Department of Access, Compliance, and Equal Opportunity.

Bug Fixes

  • Fixed an issue that occurred after the release of Core v1.28 that was causing data loss in the Icon Link Row.
  • Fixed an issue preventing blocks in Cascade from ingesting blog feeds from blogs with an ampersand in the name, category or tag.
