With the worst of the pandemic behind us and a new fall semester on the horizon, now is a good time to review your website for pandemic-era language that could indicate some out-of-date content.
We've created a Siteimprove policy for pandemic-era language that highlights terms like:
- Covid
- coronavirus
- social distancing
- mask
As a reminder, Siteimprove policies are a way to flag pages across your website that contain terms that match a given criteria. They're a great tool for keeping websites fresh and accurate.
Siteimprove will likely match content related to old news stories, research studies and other archival content that does not need to be removed so long as it is clear to the user that this is in the past.
What we're looking for is content that references outdated rules and guidelines like social distancing, masking or other Covid-era requirements.
If you're unsure whether content should be removed, we encourage you to work with your unit's leadership on a decision. The Office of Digital Communications can also provide some guidance.
If you choose to ignore a match, please be sure to leave a detailed reason as to why it should be ignored.
If you don’t have access to Siteimprove
If you’re new to Siteimprove or need to get someone access to your site’s Siteimprove profile, email the Office of Digital Communications at digimaint@fiu.edu. The DigiComm team can answer any question you might have regarding Siteimprove.
